Tehran is a 2025 Indian Hindi-language spy action thriller film directed by Arun Gopalan and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Shobhna Yadav and Sandeep Leyzell. It stars John Abraham, Neeru Bajwa and Manushi Chhillar.[1] The film is inspired by the 2012 attacks on Israeli diplomats.[2][3] The film premiered on ZEE5 on 14 August 2025.[4]

Production

In February 2022, Maddock Films officially announced Tehran with John Abraham in the lead role.[1] The story was said to be inspired by international incidents, particularly the 2012 Israeli diplomat attacks in India.[2] Principal photography began in mid-2022 and took place across various international locations including Delhi and Eastern Europe. Neeru Bajwa and Manushi Chhillar joined the cast in 2023.[3]

Release

The film was initially expected for a theatrical release but was later acquired by ZEE5. It premiered digitally on 14 August 2025, timed around India’s Independence Day weekend.[4]

Reception

Upon release, the film received mixed to positive reviews. Critics praised John Abraham’s performance and the realistic action sequences, while the screenplay received some criticism for pacing issues.
