Rishabh Rajendra Pant (born 4 October 1997) is an Indian international cricketer who plays as a left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman. Known for his aggressive batting and fearless mindset, Pant became a household name after his historic Test performances in Australia during the 2020–21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.[1]

Early Life

Rishabh Pant was born in Roorkee, Uttarakhand. He moved to Delhi at a young age to train under coach Tarak Sinha at Sonnet Cricket Club. For several years, he traveled frequently between Roorkee and Delhi for training.[2]

Education

He studied at The Indian Public School, Dehradun, and later attended Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University.[3]

Career

Pant rose through the ranks in U-19 cricket and was part of India’s squad for the 2016 U-19 World Cup. He gained attention after scoring a 24-ball fifty — the fastest in U-19 World Cup history.[4]

International Debut

T20I Debut: 1 February 2017 vs England

Test Debut: 18 August 2018 vs England

ODI Debut: 21 October 2018 vs West Indies

In 2018, Pant became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test century in England.[5]

Gabba Glory

In January 2021, Pant scored an unbeaten 89* at The Gabba, Brisbane, helping India win the series 2–1 against Australia — ending Australia’s 32-year unbeaten streak at the venue.[6]

IPL Career

Pant plays for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. He was appointed captain in 2021 and remains a vital part of the franchise.[7]

Personal Life

Pant was involved in a near-fatal car accident in December 2022 but made a remarkable recovery and returned to IPL 2024 with Delhi Capitals.[10] He is currently unmarried and known for his witty, light-hearted nature on and off the field.
