Aasif Khan is an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi films, television and web series. He came into prominence for his role of Babar in the web series 'Mirzapur' (2018-2020), which was a crime thriller series. Some other shows he has acted in include 'India's Most Wanted', 'Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega', 'Panchayat', 'Paatal Lok', 'Pagglait', 'Human', 'The Great Indian Family', 'Dehati Ladke', 'Kakuda' and 'The Bhootnii'.
Khan started acting with minor parts and being a junior artist but later developed himself in the theatre. While he did different jobs in Mumbai and attended auditions, he also worked as a casting associate. His experiences as a theatre actor and casting associate allowed him to get insight into the entertainment industry and help him shape his career as an actor. For his performance in the short film 'Vacancy', he won the Best Actor award at Skylight Film Festival and Cineshorts by Viacom18 in 2018.
Early Life & Education
Aasif Khan was born on 13th March 1991 and was brought up in Nimbahera, a small town of Chittorgarh district in Rajasthan state of India. His father Late Ayyub Khan is employed in J.K. Cement whereas his mother is Firdous Ayyub Khan who stays at home. He has two brothers and one sister.
While growing up in schools, he was an average student however, he had developed a passion for acting and arts. His passion for acting started in 2001 when he played the character of a servant in the school annual drama 'Kissa Kursi ka'.
He got his inspiration from the act 'Shaadiwala' of comedian Raju Srivastava on the television show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge'. On getting motivated by the performance, he took part in a stand-up comedy competition held in his locality and came out successful.
The loss of his father in the year 2008 hampered his plans of becoming an actor. For earning money and taking care of his family, he did various small jobs and at the same time completed his higher secondary education.
Career
In 2010, Aasif Khan came to Mumbai to start a career as an actor. At first, he used to work as a waiter at a hotel to earn money. Later on, he worked in a shopping mall and attended many auditions as an actor.
During this period, he was suggested to learn acting through theatre and make experience in the same way. In 2011, he became the member of the Sarthak and Ujaagar Theatre Group in Jaipur. He honed his acting skills and acted as a professional actor in the theatre.
His first theatrical play was “Abu Hassan”, which was directed by Rajiv Acharya. He worked in theatre for about five years and acted in theatre plays in collaboration with different theatre groups.
In 2015, Aasif Khan performed in a Rajasthani musical play called “Kasumal Sapno”, which was adapted from William Shakespeare’s comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. The drama was staged by Ajeet Singh Palawat in the International Theatre Festival of Karachi that was organised by the National Academy of Performing Arts.
Khan then returned to Mumbai in 2016 and worked for about a year as a casting associate at Casting Bay that was founded by his friend and mentor Abhishek Banerjee and Anmol Ahuja. This experience in casting provided him with an understanding of the film and television industry as he was still acting.
His earliest roles in the film industry included appearances as junior artist in films like Ready (2011) and Agneepath (2012). He also acted in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Pari.
In 2017, Khan played the lead role of Durgesh Kumar in the short film Vacancy. The performance won him many praises as well as awards including the Best Actor award in Skylight Film Festival and Cineshorts by Viacom18 in 2018.
Khan received major recognition in 2018 after he played the role of Babar, a loyal aide, in the web series Mirzapur. He then continued to act in the same character in the second season of the series.
Khan made his Bollywood debut in 2019 with the release of "India's Most Wanted" film, where he starred as Bittu Sinha opposite Arjun Kapoor under the direction of Raj Kumar Gupta. He also appeared in a supporting role in "Humorously Yours" as Chintu.
In 2020, he appeared in several significant projects for the web. In one of the shows, he played journalist Anas Ahmad in "Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega". Khan also performed in the role of Ganesh, who is a persistent bridegroom in "Panchayat" and Kabir M in "Paatal Lok".
The actor also collaborated on the second season of "Mirzapur" show and starred in the short film "Sorry" in 2020.
In 2021, Khan appeared in the short film "Click" and in the comedy-drama film "Pagglait" as Parchun.
In 2022, he participated in the web-series "Human", "Dil Se Hero", "Murder In Agonda" and "Ghar Set Hai". He acted as Omar Pervez in "Human", Vikram in "Dil Se Hero", Sanket Salelkar in "Murder In Agonda" and Lakhan in "Ghar Set Hai".
Khan made an appearance in the movie The Great Indian Family in the role of Tulsidas Mishra. He also made an appearance in the web series Dehati Ladke as Prashant Bhaiya, who is an aspirant for UPSC as well as mentor.
He made his appearance as Ganesh in the third season of Panchayat. It was well appreciated by audiences since there were changes to the character that the viewers disliked in the earlier seasons and started appreciating it in the later seasons.
He then made his appearance in the horror-comedy film Kakuda, produced by Aditya Sarpotdar, as Kilvish. It was premiered on ZEE5.
In 2025, he made an appearance in the horror-comedy film The Bhootnii, as Nasir. It was premiered in theatres on 1 May 2025.
In 2026, he participated in the reality show Bigg Boss 20. It was his first appearance in the reality shows.[1][2]
There are many other future projects of him which include Ishq Chakkallas, Noorani Chehra and Section 108.

Personal Life
Aasif Khan comes from the state of Rajasthan, from the town of Nimbahera. He is one among four siblings. His father is Late Ayyub Khan, who works in J.K. Cement and his mother Firdous Ayyub Khan is a housewife.
Some major hurdles in the life of Khan came after his father's demise in 2008. He had to work in different fields to sustain himself and his family in addition to studies and acting.
It became an essential part of his life as an actor that how he worked as a waiter, in a mall, performed in theatre and then as a casting associate. It gave him some practical knowledge about the entertainment industry before he made a mark in films and web series.
