Chaudhary Charan Singh University
Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU), formerly known as Meerut University, is a prominent public state university located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. The university was established in 1965 with the aim of providing higher education to the students of Western Uttar Pradesh. It was renamed in 1991 in honor of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on the occasion of its Silver Jubilee.

History
- 1965: Established as Meerut University.
- 1969: Introduction of research programmes like M.Phil and Ph.D.
- 1973: Commencement of postgraduate teaching departments.
- 1980s–1990s: Growth of affiliated colleges in Arts, Science, Commerce, and Law streams.
- 1991: Renamed to Chaudhary Charan Singh University to honor the legacy of a peasant leader and India’s former Prime Minister.
- 2000s–Present: Major focus on self-financed courses, digitization, smart classes, and NAAC accreditation.
