History
The journey began with a dream. Like countless first-time writers, Pritam wanted to self-publish his own book. However, the reality of the publishing industry proved to be deeply discouraging. At that time, there were no reliable self-publishing options available in Tripura. Most publishing houses demanded that authors print a minimum of 100 copies, requiring an upfront investment of nearly ₹30,000 simply to publish a single title. For a new author, this was an unrealistic and unjustifiable financial burden.The challenges did not end there.Many publishing houses offered little transparency in their pricing and processes. Authors often faced indifference, poor communication, and unprofessional behaviour. Some were forced to look beyond Tripura for publishing opportunities, only to discover another troubling reality—numerous fraudulent publishing companies operating in the market.
The Unspoken Reality Facing Aspiring Authors:These companies collected large one-time payments from aspiring writers, published the book once, and then failed to provide any meaningful long-term support. Many never reprinted books when stock was exhausted, making titles unavailable despite continued demand. In several cases, authors also discovered that the ISBNs provided were not properly registered or genuine, creating serious credibility and distribution issues.Witnessing these experiences was deeply disheartening. It became evident that countless talented writers were abandoning their dreams—not because they lacked creativity or determination, but because the publishing system had become inaccessible, expensive, and often untrustworthy.
