Early Life & Education
Payel Mithai Sarkar was born on 6 September 1992 in Baranagar, Kolkata, West Bengal, India.Her father is Gopal Sarkar and mother is Baby Sarkar. She completed her early education at Holy Christ School, Baranagar, and Ananda Ashrama Sarada Vidyapeeth, Dumdum. She pursued her undergraduate studies in Psychology at Bagbazar Women's College, Kolkata, and went on to complete a Master’s degree in Psychology from MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bangalore.
In a significant academic achievement, Payel earned a Doctorate in Social Science from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Delhi, and was awarded a Gold Medal by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, recognizing her outstanding contribution to the field.
Career
Early Career
Payel began her career as a model and in TV commercials. She became well-known in 2010 after placing second in the "Adwitiya Beauty Contest" held by Keya Seth Aromatherapy. Later, she made appearances in print campaigns and calendar shoots.
Acting
She debuted on television in the Star Jalsha serial Bhalobasha.com (2010) and has since made appearances in Guru Dakshina, Bhakter Bhagaban Shri Krishna, Tapur Tupur, Bene Bou, Tumi Robe Nirobe, and Andarmahal.
Her roles in Bhanumotir Khel, Kundo Phooler Mala, Ami Sirajer Begum (2018), and Advuture (2018) helped her gain widespread recognition.

Payel starred alongside renowned actor Soumitra Chattopadhyay in the 2020 film Palatak, in addition to her significant roles in the web series Chahida, Lovebirds, and Lovesin.
Event Organizing and Social Work
Payel organizes events such as BONGO KRITI SAMMAN and STARLIGHT ANNONYA SAMMAN, highlighting social issues and honoring notable personalities.[4][5]
She founded both the old age home Natun Ghar in Kolkata and Payel Sarkar Organization Pvt. Ltd. Her social work focuses on helping children with cancer, victims of domestic abuse, women living in red-light districts, and survivors of acid attacks. She regularly assists underprivileged communities and personally looks after nine elderly women at Natun Ghar.[6]

Payel is the Managing Director of the renowned event management firm Payel Sarkar Organization Pvt. Ltd. It hosts some of Bengal's largest award ceremonies. In order to assist those in need, particularly women and senior citizens, the company also runs a number of charitable initiatives.

Personal Life
Payel is the daughter of Gopal Sarkar, owner of the Blue-Moon Restaurant, and Baby Sarkar, who runs a beauty parlour. Payel is a member of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) and is very active in politics. She is currently the state president of the National Anti-Corruption & Crime Control Bureau and was previously the West Bengal State General Secretary of All India Human Rights.
