Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is an Indian gangster movie directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced jointly by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations LLP. The film features Yash in a dual role along with Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. The movie is set to release worldwide on 26 August 2026.[1][2]

Premise
The story follows a gangster navigating a violent world shaped by loyalty, jealousy, morality, and redemption. Set against the backdrop of post-independence Goa, the film explores the struggles of its characters as they face personal conflicts, dangerous relationships, and the consequences of their choices.

Production
Development
The movie was initially announced in 2023 as the next project of Yash after the KGF franchise. It was officially announced on 8 December 2023 under the title Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. The movie is directed by Geetu Mohandas, while Yash took part in writing.[3]
The movie is produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash through KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations LLP.[4][5]
Casting
Yash is the lead actor of the movie playing in dual roles as Raya and his son Rumi who is also called "Ticket". Kiara Advani is part of the film as the female lead. Later, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth were also cast in the film in significant roles.
The film also features Akshay Oberoi, Darrell D'Silva, Sudev Nair and various international actors. Sanjeeda Sheikh makes a special appearance in the film.
Filming
Principal photography began in August 2024 in Bengaluru. Significant portions were shot on elaborate sets and on location around Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa, Thoothukudi and Jaipur.
The film had many action sequences and period style set pieces. Filming concluded in October 2025.
Soundtrack
The soundtrack is scored by Vishal Mishra, Ravi Basrur, Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah,, and Arslan Nizami. The background score is provided by Ravi Basrur.
The first single "Tabaahi" was released on 2 March 2026, with its video on 8 July 2026. The second single "Manamohaka" was released on 21 July 2026.
The music rights have been acquired by Zee Music Company.
Release
Theatrical
Toxic is set to release all over the world on 26 August 2026, during the Onam season. The film will release in Kannada and English, as well as in its dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
It is expected to release in standard, IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX and EPIQ formats.
The film was initially slated to release on 10 April 2025.[6][7] However, the release dates were pushed multiple times and the filmmakers finally fixed 26 August 2026.[8]
Distribution
The film has various distributors in different countries. For North India and Nepal, the distributor is AA Films, whereas for the overseas rights of the Indian language version, the distributor is Phars Film.[9]
Panorama Studios will be the distributor in Kerala, while for the Tamil Nadu rights, the distributors are Think Studios, S Picture, Trident Arts, and Five Star Senthil. In Karnataka,[10] the distributors of the film are KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, and Lionsgate will distribute the English version of the film globally.[11]
Marketing
The announcement video and title of the movie were launched on 8 December 2023. A glimpse named "Birthday Peek" was released on 8 January 2025.
A glimpse of Yash's character Raya was unveiled on 8 January 2026. The teaser was unveiled on 20 February 2026, and the promotional teaser called "Ladies & Ladies" was unveiled on 1 July 2026.
The official trailer was launched on 8 August 2026 at a special event held in Bengaluru. The English trailer of the film was then unveiled on 19 August 2026.
