The film was released in cinemas on 18 July 2025 and received mostly positive reviews. Critics and audiences praised the performances, direction, and music. It became a big commercial success, earning ₹253.67 crore worldwide. It was the third highest-grossing Hindi film and fifth highest-grossing Indian film of 2025.[1]

Plot

Krish Kapoor is a talented but troubled musician. He struggles with drug addiction and emotional pain, which affects his behavior and music. His life changes when he meets Vaani Batra, a quiet woman who works at a publishing house. Krish reads her poetry and feels a deep connection with her.

As they work together on music, they help each other heal emotionally. Krish finds stability in Vaani, and Vaani gains confidence through their bond. Their relationship becomes stronger, and they fall in love.

However, things take a sad turn when Vaani is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. She begins to forget daily things and even her love for Krish. At first, she hides her condition from him. Later, her ex-fiancé Mahesh returns and tries to manipulate her. One day, Vaani mistakenly calls Krish by Mahesh’s name, which deeply hurts Krish.

Despite this, Krish stays by her side. He tells her a story about a man whose girlfriend is forgetting him. Inspired by this, Vaani writes a song called "Saiyaara", believing it will help the girl remember her love.

When Vaani disappears, Krish uses the success of "Saiyaara" to search for her. The song becomes a global hit. Later, Krish sees a viral video of Vaani in Himachal Pradesh and finds her at an ashram. She no longer remembers him, but Krish helps her recall their memories.

The movie ends with Vaani regaining her memory. She and Krish perform together at Wembley Stadium and get married.

Reception

Critical response

Saiyaara received generally positive reviews from critics upon its release. The film was widely praised for its hauntingly beautiful soundtrack, visual richness, and emotionally layered performances by Ishaan Khattar and Tripti Dimri. The chemistry between the leads was noted as a standout, with critics appreciating the poetic tone and cultural setting of the narrative.

However, some reviewers pointed out that the second half of the film lagged in pace, with a few sequences feeling overly stretched. Despite this, the film's emotional depth and musical sequences were often credited for keeping the audience engaged.

NDTV wrote, "Saiyaara is a visual and musical treat. Ishaan’s charm and Tripti’s grace hold the film together, even when the story treads familiar territory."[4]

Bollywood Hungama echoed similar sentiments, stating, "Tripti Dimri shines brightly, adding gravitas to a story that could have otherwise felt formulaic."[5]

Box office

The film had a decent opening at the Indian box office, collecting ₹5.6 crore on its first day. Over the weekend, Saiyaara showed strong word-of-mouth growth, with multiplex audiences especially drawn to its music and performances.

Analysts noted that while it wasn’t a blockbuster opener, the film’s steady performance signaled audience appreciation for intimate, music-driven romantic dramas. It performed particularly well in urban centers like Mumbai, Delhi, and Lucknow.

According to Box Office India, "Saiyaara had a decent start, bolstered by strong urban occupancy and excellent reviews for its music and visuals."[6]
