Knowlepedia:Notability
This page documents the general notability guideline used on Knowlepedia. It helps determine whether a topic merits a standalone article.
General Principle
For a topic to merit inclusion on Knowlepedia, it must have received significant coverage in reliable, independent sources. This ensures the topic is verifiable and noteworthy in public discourse or documentation.
Basic Criteria
A topic is generally considered notable if:
- Reliable Sources: There are multiple, independent, reliable sources (such as news articles, books, academic journals) that cover the subject in detail.
- Independent: The sources must not be affiliated with the subject (e.g., not self-published or promotional).
- Significant Coverage: The topic must have more than a trivial mention in the sources.
Notability ≠ Fame
Notability means verifiability and coverage — not social media popularity or temporary viral fame. A subject with a million followers but no reliable media coverage may not be notable.
Subject-Specific Guidelines
People (Artists, Authors, Entrepreneurs, etc.)
- Featured in national or regional news outlets
- Authored published books or released music via verified platforms
- Received awards or recognitions from reputable institutions
- Speaker at notable events or conferences

- Covered in business magazines, tech portals, or trade publications
- Received investment or partnership news
- Legally registered and active in operations with external coverage
Educational or Informational Topics

What Doesn’t Count?
- Press releases without third-party reporting
- Personal blogs or interviews on the subject’s own site
- Social media profiles or follower count alone
- Listings on business directories (unless featured editorially)
Re-assessment and Deletion
Pages not meeting notability guidelines may be:
- Proposed for merging into broader topics
- Tagged for improvement (with citation needs)
- Nominated for deletion if no significant sources are found
Improving Notability
Subjects not yet notable can:
- Seek authentic media coverage or interviews
- Participate in notable events and document it with coverage
- Publish in credible platforms (books, music, journals)
