Early Life and Education

Axar Patel was born on 20 January 1994 in Anand, Gujarat, India, into a Gujarati family. From a young age, he showed a keen interest in sports, especially cricket. His father, Rajeshbhai Patel, encouraged him to pursue the sport seriously. Axar completed his schooling in Gujarat, where he actively participated in local cricket tournaments and developed his skills as an all-rounder.

Though he initially planned to become a mechanical engineer, his consistent performances in junior-level cricket earned him recognition and opportunities in domestic cricket. His early education and training built the foundation for his successful cricketing career, making him one of India’s most reliable all-rounders in modern cricket.

Early & Domestic Career

Axar made his ODI debut on 15 June 2014 against Bangladesh and was later selected for the 2015 Cricket World Cup. He began his domestic career with Gujarat, where he took 6 wickets for 55 runs in his second first-class match. He also helped India Under-23 win the 2013 ACC Emerging Teams Cup and was named the BCCI Under-19 Cricketer of the Year (2014).

IPL Career

Axar started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians in 2013, but gained prominence with Kings XI Punjab in 2014, taking 17 wickets in his debut season. He was later signed by Delhi Capitals in 2019 and became one of their leading all-rounders.

International Career

He made his T20I debut in 2015 and Test debut in 2021 against England, where he took 7 wickets in his debut match. He played a key role in India’s victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, earning the Player of the Match award in the semifinal against England and contributing 47 runs in the final against South Africa.
