History

The two IPL franchises were introduced in 2022, and among them, the Lucknow Super Giants was one, while the other was the Gujarat Titans. RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group is the team owner and paid a whopping ₹7,090 crore for the franchise rights. LGG was the name that came out of a public contest. Premier players at the first 2022 mega auction were include KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Mark Wood, and Marcus Stoinis, with Rahul as captain and Andy Flower as head coach, while Gautam Gambhir was the team mentor. In the short time that they have been a franchise, LSG has reached the playoffs in both 2022 and 2023 and ranked 7th (2024) & 2025 and also being the only IPL team that is still active but has not yet played a final. In 2025 mega auction, the team kept Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Mohsin Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, and Mayank Yadav and signed Rishabh Pant for ₹27 crore as captain, with Zaheer Khan as the mentor. Unbelievably fast, LSG has become one of the top 10 most favored IPL teams in India, with a huge social media following of 5.1 million followers by 2025.[1][2][3]

Home Ground

Lucknow Super Giants’ home Ground is the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. In the inaugural season (2022), the team did not have the opportunity to play their home matches at their venue because of COVID norms, and thus, matches took place in Maharashtra. Since 2023, Lucknow Super Giants have been playing their home matches at Ekana Stadium, where fans celebrate their matches with songs from the Bhojpuri language.[4][5]

The Lucknow Super Giants logo displays a kaleidoscope of colors like blue, orange, yellow, gray, light green, green, and red. The colors portray energy, diversity, and the dynamism of the team in the IPL.[6]
