His international debut occurred in December 2023 in a match against South Africa. He led RCB to the first title in the Indian Premier League in 2025.[1][2]

Early Life & Education

Rajat Patidar was born on 1 June 1993 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He started his journey with cricket at an early age of 8. He was then enrolled into a Cricket Academy by his grandfather. Patidar started his career as a bowler, but he then concentrated his attention to batting when he was U-15.

He has also recorded the 5th fastest century in Ranji Trophy, scoring 100 runs in just 68 balls against Haryana, ending the match with 159 runs.[3][4][5]

Indian Premier League

Patidar was first acquired by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2021 IPL auction and scored just 71 runs in four games before being released. In 2022 he was signed mid-season by RCB, scoring a match-winning 112* against Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator to become the first uncapped player to score a century in an IPL playoff.

He was retained for IPL 2023 but could not participate in it due to an injury in his Achilles tendon. During IPL 2024, he scored 395 runs in 13 innings. Before IPL 2025, he was named as the captain of team RCB, and they won their first IPL title under him.[6][7][8][9][10]

International Career

Patidar received his initial call for ODIs with South Africa in October 2023. Patidar made his ODI debut on 21 December 2023 and scored 22 runs in 16 balls. He made his Test debut against England on 2nd February 2024 and scored 32 and 9 runs in the two innings.[11][12][13][14]
