Banaras Hindu University (BHU), which existed under the name Benares Hindu University, stands as one of India's oldest and most prestigious central universities in Varanasi,India. Founder
Madan Mohan Malaviya – An eminent Indian educationist, nationalist leader, and visionary who established Banaras Hindu University in 1916 with the aim of promoting modern education rooted in Indian culture.
Co-founder

Academic Features
Banaras Hindu University provides a complete educational system which combines multiple academic disciplines to support various academic programs. The university consists of six main institutes which contain 14 faculties and approximately 140 academic departments that teach arts science commerce management law agriculture medical sciences and performing arts. BHU creates a lively educational atmosphere which serves more than 30000 students and maintains strong international student enrollment. The university operates one of Asia's biggest residential systems which includes more than 65 hostels that provide accommodation to thousands of students.
