You can see them used for talking back and forth, entertainment, learning, better work output , social networking, and other kind of digital services, all of it happens through operating systems like Android and iOS. Sometimes, people just say apps, which is sort of the same thing, and yes it tends to get used interchangeably, depending on who you ask.
