Anand Vadakepat is an Indian Vedic astrologer and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Jothishi.com, a Vedic astrology platform and YouTube channel, and the co-founder, alongside twelfth-grade student Pranav, of Retrograde, an AI-driven Vedic astrology application. He is also the founder of Corp Placements, a Bengaluru-based recruitment and HR consulting firm.[1] According to company materials, Vadakepat has consulted on Vedic astrology for more than two decades and has advised over 14,000 clients on personal and life-decision queries, drawing on the classical teachings of Rishi Parashara, Jaimini, Lomasa and Narada.[1]

Early life & Education

Vadakepat studied engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut. He subsequently completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in finance and marketing, and has cleared Level II of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.

Career

Corp Placements

Vadakepat founded Corp Placements more than twenty years ago. The firm provides recruitment, executive search, and HR consulting services, and according to the company has helped more than 4,000 candidates find suitable roles across marketing, branding, communications, finance and accounts, commercial, purchase, HR and information technology functions.[1] Over roughly fifteen years, Vadakepat has personally conducted more than 2,000 interviews and candidate assessments, and the firm's work has included executive search, senior and mid-level hiring, and helping startups form their core teams. He has experience administering psychometric assessments and running assessment centres, and has guest-lectured and served on selection panels at business schools. Corp Placements has also operated a resume-writing services portal.

Jothishi

Jothishi.com is a Vedic astrology platform founded by Vadakepat that combines classical Jyotish methodology — the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra and Jaimini's sutras, together with the teachings attributed to the sages Lomasa and Narada — with modern technology and consulting products. Company materials describe Jothishi's mission as building "Karma Altering" products intended to improve relationships, guide users toward better decisions, and support a reduction in materialistic desires as part of the pursuit of Moksha (liberation).

Jothishi's product line includes:

  • Horoscope Matching — a compatibility-assessment tool that evaluates more than 20 parameters beyond the traditional Ashtakoot method, including life span, bonding, children, energy flow, intellectual and physical compatibility, and family stability, producing a compatibility score.
  • When Will I Get Married — a marriage-timing predictor that takes a user's date, time, and place of birth (latitude and longitude) and returns a predicted month and year of marriage.
  • Baby Names and Abroad predictors, offered alongside the marriage and matchmaking tools.
  • Daily astrology consultations and astrology-based business coaching.

Jothishi also operates House of Jothishi, an e-commerce storefront selling incense sticks, dhoop, camphor, deity frames and other pooja items, sold through its own site as well as Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho and JioMart.

YouTube Presence

Jothishi's YouTube channel (youtube.com/jothishi) is described by the company as comprising more than 1,900 videos. The catalog is organized loosely into a number of recurring series and topics:

Content categories
Category Summary
Learn Astrology A numbered foundational series running past 140 episodes, covering the twelve houses, yogas, divisional (varga) charts, planetary mantras, and other core Jyotish concepts from first principles.

Planets and Houses Videos on planetary combinations and conjunctions (graha yuti) — such as Saturn–Mars or Moon–Ketu — along with dedicated videos on each of the twelve houses of a horoscope.
Astrology Remedies Videos addressing specific doshas (afflictions), including Surya Dosh, Pitru Dosha, and Vish Dosh, along with general remedial practices.
Mantras and Shlokas Chanting videos featuring the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, various ashtottaras, and sahasranamams, accompanied by explanations of their meaning and traditional benefits.
Vedic Baby Names Naming-inspiration videos organized by deity, such as names associated with Ganesha or Rama.
Celebrity Astrology Nakshatra and chart-reading videos illustrated through the birth charts of well-known public figures.
Podcast and Conversations Shorter, conversational videos in which Vadakepat discusses astrology topics informally; this format appears less consistently published than the channel's other recurring series.

Retrograde

In 2026, Vadakepat co-founded Retrograde (retrograde.co.in) together with Pranav, a twelfth-grade student at National Public School, Bangalore. Retrograde is an AI-driven Vedic astrology application, available on the web and on iPhone and Android, that gives users personalized answers to questions about career, relationships, marriage, health, wealth, business and relocation. According to the company, the platform is built on a multilayered Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture incorporating more than 1,000 purpose-built astrology agents and bots, designed to address more than 10,000 categories of customer query. Its methodology applies the Parashara and Jaimini systems, Nakshatras, divisional (varga) charts from D1 through D60, multiple dasha timing systems, Ashtakvargas, Shadbalas, planetary houses and signs, and Panchanga.

Online presence

Jothishi and Vadakepat maintain a combined social media following that the company describes as exceeding one million, across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Quora, ShareChat and Pinterest.

Recognition

Corp Placements was nominated for the "National Award for Industrial Excellence in the Services Sector" by the National Chambers of Commerce and Industry in India. Corp Placements has been included in "Top HR Consultants" lists published by independent agencies.

In the media

Jothishi has received coverage in business press, largely through wire-distributed press release services:

"Can Chanting Mantras Improve Quality of Our Lives; The Story of Jothishi.com," distributed by Asian News International (ANI) / BusinessWire India and carried by Business Standard and ANI News (2019). Business Standard labels this content as agency-supplied, noting no staff journalist was involved in its creation. "Marriage Date Prediction — One of the Biggest Research and Scientific Validations in Vedic Astrology by Jothishi.com," distributed via PRNewswire/ANI and carried by Business Standard (2020), covering the "When Will I Get Married" product. A related article on the same topic was also carried by The Times of India (2020). Following Retrograde's 2026 launch, wire-distributed coverage of the platform and its founders appeared on The AI Journal, FinancialContent, IssueWire and Fortune Week.

Personal life and Philosophy

Vadakepat describes his personal outlook as centered on the pursuit of Moksha (liberation) through the paths of Bhakti (devotion), Karma (action), Gnana (knowledge) and Kriya (practice), including regular chanting of the Vishnu Sahasranamam and meditation on Krishna. He has said Jothishi's broader aim is to address negative states such as anger, greed and jealousy — which he connects to conflict and discord in the wider world — by helping people make clearer, calmer decisions.[1]
