Production

Development

Now, the run up for this fourth Spider-Man installment in the MCU started not long after Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) did well in the marketplace. In 2023, Kevin Feige , the president of Marvel Studios, confirmed that talks were in motion for another adventure with Tom Holland back as Peter Parker. Then in 2025 Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios publicly said the plan was moving ahead, and Destin Daniel Cretton signed on to take the director seat. The screenplay work was handled by the same duo, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers , who had written those earlier MCU Spider-Man films, and they came back to shape the script.

Casting

Tom Holland reprised his role as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, while Zendaya returned as MJ and Jacob Batalon returned as Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joined the cast in an undisclosed role. Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo were also cast in significant roles, expanding the ensemble.

Filming

Principal photography began in 2025 and continued into 2026. Filming took place at several locations in the United Kingdom and the United States, with additional sequences completed on specially constructed studio sets. The production used large-scale practical sets alongside advanced visual effects to recreate action sequences across New York City.

Soundtrack

The film's original score was composed by Michael Giacchino, who returned after composing the music for the previous MCU Spider-Man films. His score combines orchestral themes with modern superhero motifs while continuing the musical identity established in the earlier trilogy. Details regarding the soundtrack album and featured songs were announced closer to the film's theatrical release.

Release

Theatrical

Spider-Man: Brand New Day was released theatrically on 31 July 2026 in the United States and several international territories. It was released in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, ScreenX, and other premium large-screen formats.

Marketing

The film's marketing campaign began with the release of the official title announcement, followed by teaser posters, first-look images, and trailers released by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures. Promotional events featuring the cast, interviews, fan conventions, and digital campaigns were organised worldwide ahead of the film's theatrical release, generating significant anticipation among Marvel fans.

Reception

Critical response

The film received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised Tom Holland's performance, Destin Daniel Cretton's direction, emotional storytelling, visual effects, and action sequences. Several reviewers highlighted the film as a strong continuation of Peter Parker's journey following the conclusion of the previous trilogy.

Box office

Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened to strong box office numbers worldwide, becoming one of the biggest Hollywood releases of 2026. The film performed particularly well across North America and international markets, with official lifetime box office figures continuing to be updated following its theatrical release.
