Awarapan 2
Awarapan 2 is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action drama movie directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the banner of Vishesh Films. It comes as a sequel to the 2007 film Awarapan , and yeah it features Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani , and Shabana Azmi in key roles. The theatrical release is planned for 14 August 2026.

Production
Development
The thing was officially announced by Vishesh Films in March 2025, Nitin Kakkar was locked in as director and Emraan Hashmi is returning as Shivam. Vishesh Bhatt has said it is a straight, kind of direct continuation of the 2007 film. Unlike the earlier one, Mohit Suri was not approached to direct the sequel. Emraan Hashmi also mentioned that the screenplay got rewritten a number of times, over almost two years.[1][2][3][4]
Casting
Manushi Chhillar was, for a while, considered for the female lead but she declined because of scheduling conflicts. Later, Disha Patani was brought in as the female lead, and then Shabana Azmi joined the cast in December 2025. Along with that, debut actor Aniruddh Rawal was also added to the film.
Filming
Pre-production started in April 2025. After that, principal photography kicked off in September 2025 and wrapped up in June 2026. The shooting took place in Bangkok, Mumbai, Rajasthan and also Malaysia. During the Rajasthan part, Emraan Hashmi faced an abdominal injury while performing an action sequence, and then later he underwent surgery.
Soundtrack
The songs are composed by Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli, Amaal Mallik, and Akhil Sachdeva, with lyrics by Rashmi Virag and Sayeed Quadri. The background score is handled by Raju Singh. The soundtrack will be released under the Sony Music label.

Release
Theatrical
Awarapan 2 was first kinda scheduled for a theatrical release on 3 April 2026. But later, the release got postponed to 14 August 2026 , which also lines up with the Independence Day weekend in India. At the same time, the film is expected to sort of clash at the box office with Batwara 1947 , so yeah that timing is pretty spicy.[5][6]
Distribution
The theatrical distribution rights of Awarapan 2 were acquired by Pen Marudhar , and they will handle the film’s nationwide rollout across India. The theatres schedule is set for 14 August 2026, same day as the updated release plan.[7]
Marketing
The promotional push started in late June 2026, when the makers announced the release date for the official teaser. The teaser itself was unveiled on 29 June 2026. Then on 29 July 2026 , the makers released a motion poster, with Emraan Hashmi appearing as Shivam, giving audiences a first glimpse about his character from the film.[8][9][10]
