Baidya has introduced original theories on intrinsic morality, moral equations, and the philosophical foundations of peace, earning recognition both in India and internationally.
Early life and Education
Omkar Prasad Baidya was born in Agartala, Tripura, India, on 3 December 1984. He completed his schooling at Shishu Bihar Higher Secondary School in his hometown. He earned his MBBS degree in 2009 and an MD in Physiology in 2012 from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, Manipur. In 2013, he joined the Post MD–PhD program sponsored by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) at King George's Medical University, Lucknow, completing his PhD in 2019 under Prof. Sunita Tiwari.
Baidya has also obtained numerous certifications and accreditations from institutions including Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Yale University, Boston University, the University of Toronto, and the American College of Physicians, among others.
Career
Baidya serves as an associate professor in the Department of Physiology at ESIC-PGIMSR and ESI Medical College, Joka, Kolkata. Alongside his medical career, he has developed philosophical frameworks combining science, ethics, and human values. His works emphasize that morality exists both intrinsically—embedded in living cells—and extrinsically, acquired through education and cultural values. Currently he is working as faculty in a medical institute in kolkata.
Baidya’s central thesis is that human virtues such as compassion, forgiveness, and nonviolence are foundational pillars for world peace. He argues that world peace is a direct function of human morality and that moral leadership can drive global philanthropic change.
Notable Works & Philosophy
Baidya’s philosophical contributions center around the integration of medical science, moral theory, and universal ethics. In Morality Beyond the Human Brain: Scientific and Philosophical Exploration, he introduced a mathematical model for intrinsic morality, proposing that nature imparts moral capacity to all living beings as part of the struggle for existence. In his recent book, morality beyond human brain part 2, he has shown how innate morality and acquired morality plays importance role in human existence, human development, survival etc.
In A Path to World Peace, he discusses how human virtues can shape societies and promote global harmony, and how the concept of a universal religion might contribute to lasting peace. His other works explore morality as a phenomenon inherent in nature itself, guided by a divine or cosmic moral planner.
