Sumaira Shaikh is an Indian stand-up comedian and actress from India. Her humor and content are mostly observationally funny, often drawing from her past experiences growing up in Dongri, Mumbai. Sumaira gained fame after the release of her comedy special "Dongri Danger," released in 2022, and later became a part of the reality television series "The 50," released in 2026, as a contestant.[1][2]

Early Life & Education

Sumaira Shaikh was born on 22 August 1994 in Delhi, India, and raised in Dongri, Mumbai. Sumaira Shaikh describes her comedy as heavily influenced by her life in Dongri. In this regard, it is fair to say that her comedy primarily revolves around class differences.

She did her graduation in Psychology in Mumbai. She worked as a counselor after completing her studies but decided to take up comedy

Career

Sumaira began her comedy journey with open mic shows in Mumbai, for which she started performing in 2016. She gradually established her presence in the comedy world of stand-up comedy.

She also worked with the comedians’ collective known as All India Bakchod (AIB). In addition, she was part of the writing team for the talk show "Son of Abish." Thereafter, she started working closely with comedian Sumukhi Suresh for the Amazon Prime video web series "Pushpavalli," in which she was a co-writer (2017-2020). Further, she was part of the writing team for the Hotstar show "Beauty and the Feast," the YouTube show "Behti Naak" where she acted as the script supervisor.

In 2022, she aired her first ever stand-up comedy show titled Dongri Danger on Amazon Prime Video. Her show became popular for its own unique storyline.

She made her debut on a reality television series as a contestant on the show "The 50," which is anchored by Farah Khan. She is eventually eliminated on that show.
