The 50 is an Indian reality TV series that is based on the international format Los 50, which was itself adapted from the French format Les Cinquante. The series has 50 celebrity contestants competing in a palace-like environment (Mahal) in Mumbai. Unlike most reality TV series, The 50 has a rule-breaking and unpredictable format, where only the power of politics and social influence can help contestants survive.
This series is famous for its high-stakes gameplay, ever-changing alliances, and cutthroat competition, which makes every episode of this series unpredictable.[1]
Production
The show is currently being filmed at Madh Island, Mumbai, where a large castle-like palace set has been specially constructed for the series.
The setting plays a central role in shaping the narrative of the show. A symbolic “Lion” oversees the contestants, representing authority and observation, and reflecting how contestants behave and adapt during the competition.
Concept and format
The 50 is the Indian version of Los 50 and has celebrity contestants competing in a palace setting. The show is not based on a fixed elimination pattern or reality television norms.[2]
