Early Life & Education
Varun Dhawan was born on 24 April 1987 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, to film director David Dhawan and Karuna Dhawan. He belongs to a Punjabi Hindu family. He studied at Bombay Scottish School and later graduated from H.R. College of Commerce and Economics. He then completed a degree in Business Studies from Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom. Before becoming an actor, he worked as an assistant director to Karan Johar on the film My Name Is Khan (2010).
Career
Dhawan made his acting debut in 2012 with Karan Johar’s film Student of the Year. The film was a commercial success and made him popular among young audiences. He went on to star in romantic comedies like Main Tera Hero (2014), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017).
He showed his versatility with intense roles in Badlapur (2015) and October (2018), which earned him critical acclaim. Some of his biggest commercial hits include ABCD 2 (2015), Judwaa 2 (2017), and Dilwale (2015).
In 2022, he featured in successful films like Jugjugg Jeeyo and Bhediya. His later projects include Bawaal (2023), Citadel: Honey Bunny (2024), and Baby John (2024). His upcoming movies are Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari (2025) and Border 2.
