Varun, the son of director David Dhawan, debuted as an actor in Student of the Year, a teen drama directed by Karan Johar that was a huge commercial success in 2012. Varun Dhawan was born on 24 April 1987 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, to film director David Dhawan and Karuna Dhawan. His family is Hindu and from Punjab. After attending Bombay Scottish School, he earned his degree from H.R. College of Commerce and Economics. After that, he graduated from Nottingham Trent University in the UK with a degree in business studies. Prior to turning to acting, he served as Karan Johar's assistant director on the 2010 movie "My Name Is Khan."

Career

In 2012, Dhawan made his acting debut in the movie "Student of the Year," directed by Karan Johar. In addition to being a financial success, the movie helped him gain popularity among young viewers. He later starred in romantic comedies such as "Main Tera Hero" (2014), "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" (2014), and "Badrinath Ki Dulhania" (2017).

He received critical acclaim for his dramatic roles in "Badlapur" (2015) and "October" (2018), which demonstrated his versatility. "ABCD 2" (2015), "Judwaa 2" (2017), and "Dilwale" (2015) are a few of his most successful commercial releases.
