He gained early recognition with his debut performance and won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!. Early Life & Education

Manjot Singh was born in New Delhi into a Punjabi Sikh family. His father is a businessman, and his mother is a homemaker. He completed his schooling at Hillwoods Academy in New Delhi. Although he had never acted before—not even in school plays—he developed an interest in performing later and eventually stepped into films through auditions.

Career

Manjot Singh began his acting career with Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008). Despite having no acting experience, he impressed director Dibakar Banerjee, who insisted on casting him. His performance as the younger version of the lead character received strong critical praise and earned him the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor.

Following this recognition, he trained in a workshop in Manali and studied actor Abhay Deol’s mannerisms to match the character.

In 2010, he participated in the reality show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi Level 3.

He went on to appear in Udaan (2012), followed by the Punjabi musical drama Pure Punjabi the same year. Manjot gained wider popularity with his role as Dimpy in Student of the Year (2012).

In 2013, he starred in the sleeper hit Fukrey, and later reprised his role as Lali in Fukrey Returns (2017) and Fukrey 3 (2023). He also appeared in a cameo as Lali in Phone Bhoot (2022).

In 2019, he acted in Penalty and Dream Girl. That same year, he made a cameo appearance in Student of the Year 2, again playing Dimpy.

In 2025, Manjot appeared in Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, starring alongside Kapil Sharma, KRK, Manjot Singh himself, and other cast members. The film marked his return to mainstream comedy cinema.
