Kapil Sharma is an Indian stand-up comedian, actor, producer, television host, and singer who mostly works in Hindi entertainment. He is well known for hosting The Kapil Sharma Show and The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. He has won many awards, including five Indian Television Academy Awards. He earned national fame after winning The Great Indian Laughter Challenge season 3 in 2007.
Early Life & Education
Kapil Sharma was born on 2 April 1981 in Amritsar, Punjab. His father name was Jeetendra Kumar Punj and his mother mother is Janak Rani. He complete his early education at Shri Ram Ashram Senior Secondary School and Hindu College in Amritsar. He later earned a reputation of being one of the up-and-coming artists at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar.
Career
Kapil Sharma came into limelight when he won The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2007. Then, he went on to take home the winner's trophy in Comedy Circus many times and also featured in Ustaadon Ka Ustaad and Star Ya Rockstar, where he got the third place.
His show Comedy Nights with Kapil, which aired as a comedy-fantasy, made him one of the leading stars of Indian comedy. Later, he produced The Kapil Sharma Show, which had a series of successful seasons.
His first movie in Bollywood was Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015), which turned out to be a commercial hit. He then worked in Firangi (2017) and his performance in Zwigato (2023) got him rave reviews.
In 2025, Kapil Sharma will be back in movies with Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 alongside Manjot Singh, KRK, and others, thus marking his return to the world of comedy films.
In 2024, he initiated The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, where he reunited with Sunil Grover and Archana Puran Singh.
Kapil Sharma also tours worldwide and has done voice-overs for films like The Angry Birds Movie 2 (Hindi version) among others.
