Kartik Sharma (born 26 April 2006) is an Indian cricketer who plays as a right-handed wicketkeeper-batter. He represents Rajasthan in domestic cricket and was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for ₹14.2 crore at the IPL 2026 auction. He is one of the most expensive uncapped players in the history of the Indian Premier League. Kartik is known for his power-hitting ability and finishing skills in limited-overs cricket.

Early life

Kartik Sharma was born in Rajasthan, India, into a middle-class family. He started playing cricket at a young age, beginning with street cricket before joining a local cricket academy. His talent was noticed early by coaches due to his clean hitting and fearless batting style. He later represented Rajasthan at Under-14, Under-16, and Under-19 levels. Kartik has stated that MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are his cricketing inspirations.

Career

Kartik Sharma has performed well across all domestic formats.

In first-class cricket, he has scored 479 runs in 11 innings at an average of 43.54, including three centuries. His performances showed his ability to play long and disciplined innings.

In List A cricket, he has scored 445 runs in nine matches at an average of 55.62, including two centuries and two half-centuries.

In T20 cricket, Kartik is known for aggressive batting. In 12 matches, he has scored 334 runs at a strike rate of around 163, hitting 28 sixes. During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 133 runs in five matches at a strike rate of 160.24 and impressed against quality spin bowling.
