Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film directed by David Dhawan.[1][2][3] The film is produced by Ramesh Taurani under Tips Films along with Gaurav Bose of Maximillian Films.

Production
Development
The film was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, when director David Dhawan started working on the script for his next comedy film. The reports confirmed through December 2023 that Varun Dhawan would work with his father David Dhawan after their previous movies Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2 and Coolie No. 1.
The project announced its official existence on 10 July 2024 under the title Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The title derives from a line which appears in the song "Ishq Sona Hai" from the movie Biwi No. 1 which released in 1999.
Casting
Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur were cast as the female leads, marking their first collaboration with David Dhawan and Varun Dhawan. The supporting cast includes Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Shergill, Chunky Pandey, Mouni Roy, Ali Asgar and Kubbra Sait.
Filming
Principal photography started at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai on 12 July 2024. The crew continued their filming activities in Goa and Rishikesh and Glasgow and Edinburgh locations in Scotland.
The United Kingdom served as the location for multiple dance sequences and comedy scenes. The Scotland filming period concluded during May 2025. The production team conducted more filming activities in Mumbai throughout late 2025.
Soundtrack
The soundtrack features music composed by White Noise Collectives, Tanishk Bagchi, Javed-Mohsin, Rony Ajnali, Gill Machhrai and Akshay-IP, while the background score was composed by Raju Singh.

Release
The film will premiere in theaters on 5 June 2026. The film was originally scheduled to release on 2 October 2025 before its release date was moved to a later time.[5][6][7][8]
Marketing
The film producers unveiled their initial promotional materials through a first-look poster and a teaser which they released in April 2026. The promotional campaign used AI-generated children as part of its marketing efforts.
The 2026 Indian Premier League season served as the platform through which Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde showed their support for the film.[9][10][11]
