Dr. Albert Dawn is an Indian doctor, consultant physician, intensivist, and entrepreneur. He comes from a pretty well-known business family tied to the petroleum industry in Eastern India for four generations, so you can say the background is solid. He’s often recognized for his work in internal medicine, critical care, and for healthcare awareness kind of initiatives. Over the years he has worked with reputed hospitals like Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, AMRI Hospitals, IQ City Medical College Hospital, and M.P. Birla Hospital. Besides all that medical stuff, he is also engaged in social welfare activities and public healthcare efforts, kind of regularly. He is also involved with keeping his family’s 170-year-old Jagadhatri Puja tradition going in Kolkata, not just as a ritual but as a continuation, if you know what I mean.

Early Life & Education

Dr. Albert Dawn was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India , on 27 June 1989. He comes from a well known business family tied with the petroleum industry across Eastern India for almost a hundred years.

His family was linked to one of the very first petrol import efforts in Eastern India around 1929 and they helped the growth of the petrol pump trade in the region. At the start they were operating out of Old China Bazar Street in Kolkata, later moving things to Central Avenue , Kolkata. It was kind of a slow shift , you know.

Dr. Dawn completed his MBBS and MD in General Medicine from the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. He also finished several overseas fellowships and certifications, including DFM (RCGP, UK), FID (Liverpool, UK), IDECC (New Castle, Australia), FCD (Cardiff, UK), CCMH (BIHS, UK), FCC (ACC, USA), plus additional certification courses focused on diabetes care and cardiac services.

Career

Dr. Albert Dawn started out in critical care as well as internal medicine, and during that journey he also spent time with a few well known hospitals across India, in a sort of steady rhythm. He was a Critical Care Registrar at Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals Ltd., Kolkata , where he managed critically ill patients and also handled urgent emergency medical situations. After that, he later joined Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital, Kolkata as Deputy Medical Superintendent , sort of focusing on running the hospital’s day to day operations, coordinating care routes and patient flow in a very practical manner. Dr. Dawn also worked as a Gastroenterology Registrar at AMRI Hospitals, Mukundapur, Kolkata, and at the same time he stayed actively involved in emergency care and hands on patient support , in particular during his MD training at KPC Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata.

From May 2022 to April 2024 , he worked as Junior Consultant and In-charge of the Day Care Oncology Unit at Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals Ltd., Kolkata. Then from April 2024 until March 2025 he served as Consultant and HOD, Critical Care & Emergency at IQ City Medical College Hospital, Durgapur , and yes it was very demanding. In April 2025 he shifted to M.P. Birla Hospital, Satna, Madhya Pradesh, as Consultant Internal Medicine & Intensivist. His strengths span internal medicine, diabetes, pulmonary care, cardiology, emergency medicine, and critical care, basically the areas where decisions need to be quick and also precise.

Notable Works

Dr. Albert Dawn is fairly well known for bringing in a handful of healthcare and social initiatives that are linked to the petroleum sector and public welfare, not just in theory but in actual ground work. He pushed emergency healthcare awareness quite early by helping petrol pump staff become BLS (Basic Life Support) certified, and he also set up a Pink Zone for women at a Bharat Petroleum petrol pump near Wipro More, Kolkata, so it feels more welcoming. On top of that, he arranged healthcare awareness sessions, medical camps, and a mix of public welfare work across Kolkata as well as the nearby areas. Dr. Dawn has also contributed to academic and medical research through his authored research papers, and that side of it, seems to keep growing year after year.

Achievements and Recognition

Dr. Albert Dawn got a bit of recognition, for his work across internal medicine, critical care, and public healthcare initiatives, it’s kind of broad. He has completed several international fellowships plus certifications that came through institutions in the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and Geneva. Also, he took part in clinical monitoring programs and healthcare awareness campaigns, on and off, over time.

In addition, people view him as a successor and a caretaker of his family’s 170-year-old Jagadhatri Puja tradition in Kolkata, so you know it’s not just professional, there’s that continuity part as well.
