Dr. Rahul Banerjee was born in Kolkata West Bengal India as a member of an esteemed Zamindar family from Bishnupur Bankura. He is the only son of Subrata Banerjee and Sampa Banerjee. He completed his schooling under the West Bengal Board, passing both his 10th and 12th examinations from the same board.
He pursued his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Index Medical College and Hospital between 2013 and 2019 which is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), and subsequently completed his internship. He achieved his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Health and Hospital Management in 2022, and then he obtained a Master's degree in Political and Public Administration in 2023.
He later completed a Master's degree in Psychology in 2024. In addition to his academic qualifications, he has earned diplomas and certifications in public health counselling, emergency medicine, sports medicine, dermatology, psychology, hospital quality management and occupational health and safety.

Dr. Rahul Banerjee began his medical profession journey through his internship at Index Medical College and Hospital which he completed between 2019 and 2020. From 2020 until 2021 he worked as a Medical Officer at Devi Ahilya Hospital and Research Centre in Indore. He worked as a General Duty Medical Officer at South Eastern Railway Main Hospital Kharagpur from 2021 until 2024.
