Terence Lewis is an Indian dancer, choreographer, actor , and television personality. People recognize him mostly as a judge on dance reality shows like Dance India Dance, Nach Baliye, and India's Best Dancer.

He has also choreographed a bunch of Bollywood films including Lagaan (2001), Jhankaar Beats (2003), and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013). Beyond movies, he worked on stage shows, musicals, commercials, music videos , and even on international dance performances, sort of expanding the whole thing.

In 2026, Terence Lewis appeared as a judge on India's Best Dancer Season 5 alongside Geeta Kapur, Karisma Kapoor, and Jaaved Jaaferi.

Early Life

Terence Lewis was born , and brought up in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India , from a Mangalorean Catholic family. He is the son of Xavier Lewis and Teresa Lewis.

For his professional training, he studied jazz, ballet, and contemporary dance from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and also from the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance in New York.

Career

Choreography Career

Terence Lewis began as a choreographer, and later became one of India’s more well known dance faces. He choreographed songs, plus live acts in films such as Lagaan, Jhankaar Beats, Naach, What's Your Raashee?, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.

In 2002, he received the American Choreography Award along with Saroj Khan, Raju Khan, Ganesh Hegde , and Vaibhavi Merchant, for the choreography linked with Lagaan.

Television Career

Terence Lewis got pretty much known to people after he showed up as a judge on Dance India Dance from 2009 to 2012, there he became sort of a familiar face. His contestant, Shakti Mohan managed to win the second season of the show, overall.

Later on he also judged a bunch of dance reality programs like Nach Baliye, Dance India Dance Super Moms, Dance Champions, and India's Best Dancer.

From 2020 to 2024, he was back as a judge on India's Best Dancer . Then in 2026, he returned as a judge for India's Best Dancer Season 5 , with Geeta Kapur , Karisma Kapoor , and Jaaved Jaaferi alongside.

Reality Shows and Appearances

In 2010, Terence Lewis took part in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 3 , which was hosted by Priyanka Chopra.

He has also popped up as both guest and judge on The Kapil Sharma Show, Comedy Nights with Kapil, Dance Plus, and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa . Sometimes it feels like he’s everywhere doing that, role swapping between judging and guest appearances.
