Geeta Kapur is an Indian choreographer , and also a television personality. She became quite recognizable for sitting on the judge’s chair of multiple Indian dance reality shows like Dance India Dance, Super Dancer, and India's Best Dancer.[1]
Early life & education
Geeta Kapur was born on 5 July 1973 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.[2] She apparently got hooked on dance from a very early age, and later she moved into choreography as a full on line of work.
Career
Geeta Kapur started out by joining the dance troupe of Bollywood choreographer Farah Khan when she was just 17. She supported Farah Khan on a number of Bollywood films , among them Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Mohabbatein, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Main Hoon Na, and Om Shanti Om.
Later on she worked as a choreographer in films such as Fiza (2000), Asoka (2001), Saathiya (2002), Heyy Babyy (2007), Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (2008), Aladin (2009), Tees Maar Khan (2010), and Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya (2012).
Kapur first appeared on television as a judge on Dance India Dance in 2009 , alongside Terrence Lewis and Remo D'Souza. She then got lots of attention for training the contestants while operating under the team tag “Geeta Ki Gang”.
After that she judged a range of dance reality programs, including DID Li'l Masters, Dance Ke Superkids, Super Dancer, and India's Best Dancer.
In 2026, she came back as a judge for India’s Best Dancer Season 5 with Karisma Kapoor, Jaaved Jaaferi and Terence Lewis.[3][4]
