Premjit Sen is an renowned Indian martial artist, coach, and sports administrator. He is recognized for the growth of Karate and Martial Arts in India and across the globe. An 8th Dan Black Belt certified by the World Karate Federation and he holds prestigious roles as a Referee & Judge of the World Karate Federation (IOC recognised) and the Asian Karate Federation (OCA recognised), making him one of the most respected officials from India on the world stage.[1][2] He has his branches which has a vast accross in India and also has a very strong global presence, with affiliated branches in eight countries, including South Africa, Mexico, Italy, Iran, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Turkey.[3][4]

Premjit Sen was born on 11 September 1973 in India. From an early age, he showed deep interest in martial arts and discipline-based sports. His dedication to Karate shaped his professional journey, leading him to pursue advanced training and international certifications under globally recognised karate systems.
Career
Hanshi Premjit Sen has been instrumental in developing Karate at both national and international platforms. He has represented India as an official at various global events such as World Karate Championships, Asian Karate Championships, WKF Premier League, Series A, Youth Leagues, and Commonwealth Karate Championships in various continents of Europe, Asia, and Africa.[5][6][7]
He has also occupied significant positions such as Observer at Asian Games (Indonesia, 2018), Deputy Chef de Mission at 36th National Games, and Competition Director at 2nd North East Olympic Games (2022).[8][9]
In the contemporary martial arts landscape—where visibility often precedes credibility— Premjit Sen stands as a figure whose authority is shaped by discipline, governance, and international technical trust. A certified Referee and Judge of the World Karate Federation (WKF) and Asian Karate Federation (AKF), his role extends beyond leadership into the highest levels of global competitive regulation.[10]

Hanshi Premjit Sen founded the International Karate Championship – Indian Challenger's Cup, an annual international karate tournament managed by the Karate India Organisation (KIO). Featuring Kata and Kumite events, the championship attracts participants from India and abroad and has become one of India's leading international karate competitions.[16][17]
The 28th West Bengal State Karate Do Championship 2026 was successfully organized under the aegis of the Karate Do Association of Bengal.[18][19] The championship brought together karate athletes from across West Bengal, providing a competitive platform to showcase their skills while promoting sportsmanship and the development of karate in the state. The event concluded with the distribution of medals and recognition of outstanding performances by participating athletes.[20][21][22][23]
