Prof. Dr. Govind Prasad Pandey popularly known by his literary pen name Dr. Govind Pandey "Prem", is an Indian multifaceted personality, educationist , veterinary pharmacologist , toxicologist , academic administrator, advocate , Hindi litterateur, poet, lyricist, writer, and social worker. His professional career spans more than four decades, and he has been involved in senior academic, administrative, and research roles, such as serving as the Registrar of Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University (NDVSU) Jabalpur, and also as Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at multiple veterinary institutions across India.

Pandey's scholarly work mainly touches veterinary pharmacology, toxicology, ethnoveterinary medicine , and herbal therapeutics. He has authored and edited many books, published close to 270 research papers, guided postgraduate and doctoral scholars, and taken part in national and international scientific programmes. Beyond these scientific paths, he stays engaged in Hindi literature too , as a poet, lyricist, dramatist, and writer under the pen name Dr. Govind Pandey "Prem", where his literary works have been published as well as broadcasts on All India Radio, and Doordarshan. Early Life & Education

Prof. Dr. Govind Prasad Pandey was born on 10 October 1956, in Gerui village, in the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, India. He was born to Pt. Ram Rasile Pandey and he did his early schooling within Madhya Pradesh. He cleared the Higher Secondary School Certificate exam, in the biological sciences stream in 1973.

Later on, Pandey pursued higher education across several themes, like veterinary science , law, management, computer applications, political science, sociology, and also the language side English and Hindi literature. He even studied astrology, in the same overall direction. He earned his Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH), his Master of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (MVSc & AH), and then PhD in Veterinary Pharmacology from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya (JNKVV), Jabalpur. After that, he also collected degrees such as LLB, MA (Hindi), MA (English), and MA (Political Science) from Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya. He completed MA (Sociology) from Awadhesh Pratap Singh University. He then obtained an MBA, PGDCA, and LLM from Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University.

Along with those formal qualifications, Pandey received honorary doctorates and fellowships, and he also kept working on doctoral style research in law and management. That sort of many-angled academic background has helped shape his work across education, veterinary sciences, research writing, literature, and public administration.

Career

Prof. Dr. Govind Prasad Pandey has built a sort of multidisciplinary career that runs through over four decades in veterinary science, higher education, academic administration, public service, research, and literature. He started his professional journey in 1980, as a Veterinary Assistant Surgeon and Lecturer at the Government Artificial Insemination Training Institute, Mandla, under the Animal Husbandry Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh. In the years that came after that, he worked in different veterinary and administrative roles, such as Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Veterinary Surgeon, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, and later as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Janapad Panchayats, under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

After that, Pandey moved toward higher education and university administration. There he held a number of academic leadership positions, connected mainly with veterinary sciences and pharmacy. He served as Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in institutions including Shri Ram Institute of Technology Pharmacy, Jabalpur, B.R. Nahata College of Pharmacy, Mandsaur, Apollo College of Veterinary Medicine, Jaipur, Bhumika College of Veterinary Science and Research Centre, Mahendergarh, Sri Ganganagar Veterinary College, Tantia University, and RPS College of Veterinary Sciences, Mahendergarh.

At Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University (NDVSU), Jabalpur, Pandey served in several rather senior roles like Professor, Principal Scientist and Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology , Deputy Director (Research Services) and Registrar. As the statutory Registrar, he looked after academic administration, university governance, faculty appointments, institutional finance, examinations, and also the statutory bodies such as the Board of Management and Academic Council. He further coordinated university convocations, plus some administrative reforms during his period, which I guess mattered a lot at the time.

All through his academic journey, Pandey stayed quite involved in teaching, research, and postgraduate supervision.
