His professional career spans more than four decades, and he has been involved in senior academic, administrative, and research roles, such as serving as the Registrar of Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University (NDVSU) Jabalpur, and also as Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at multiple veterinary institutions across India.

Prof. Dr. Govind Prasad Pandey was born on 10 October 1956, in Gerui village, in the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, India. He was born to Pt. Ram Rasile Pandey and he did his early schooling within Madhya Pradesh. He cleared the Higher Secondary School Certificate exam, in the biological sciences stream in 1973.

Later on, Pandey pursued higher education across several themes, like veterinary science , law, management, computer applications, political science, sociology, and also the language side English and Hindi literature. He even studied astrology, in the same overall direction. He earned his Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH), his Master of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (MVSc & AH), and then PhD in Veterinary Pharmacology from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya (JNKVV), Jabalpur. After that, he also collected degrees such as LLB, MA (Hindi), MA (English), and MA (Political Science) from Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya. He completed MA (Sociology) from Awadhesh Pratap Singh University. He then obtained an MBA, PGDCA, and LLM from Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University.
