Devvrat Mahesh Rekhe, popularly known as Vedamurti Mahesh Rekhe, is an acclaimed young Vedic scholar from Maharashtra. His name became known across the country in 2025 when he successfully performed the highly complex Dand Kram Parayan of the Shukla Yajurveda, a spiritual feat reported to have been performed after almost 200 years. This made Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praise him, thus labeling him as one of the Vedic scholars of the new generation with the brightest prospects.[1]

Early Life & Education

Devvrat Mahesh Rekhe was born in a traditional Brahmin family in Ahilyanagar district, Maharashtra. His father, Mahesh Chandrakant Rekhe, who was a well-known Vedic scholar, was the first guru for him and guided him through his Vedic learning from very early on. At the age of five, Devvrat started to recite Vedic mantras which already showed his remarkable memory, discipline and the inclination towards spirituality. He then moved on to Vallabharam Shaligram Samveda Vidyalaya, Ramghat, Kashi for higher Vedic studies, specializing in the Shukla Yajurveda.

Career

Devvrat’s career as a Vedic scholar began in his early teenage years as he devoted himself to deep scriptural learning, chanting, and traditional practice. He became a master of complex Vedic recitation formats, especially the Shukla Yajurveda, through the years. His disciplined routine, spiritual lifestyle, and strict adherence to classical tradition were the main reasons for his scholarly recognition and acceptance in the religious institutions. He gradually gained fame as a young Vedamurti through his active participation in Vedic ceremonies, recitation programs, and spiritual gatherings.

Notable Works

Devvrat Mahesh Rekhe’s most distinguished contribution is his successful completion of the Dand Kram Parayan of the Shukla Yajurveda. From the 2nd of October to 30th of November, 2025, he was almost the daily speaker of 2000 Vedic mantras during a session of 50 days at Vallabharam Shaligram Samveda Vidyalaya in Kashi from 8 Am to 12 Pm. The last recorded achievement of this rare practice was by Vedamurti Narayan Shastri Dev of Nashik around 200 years agon thereby making Devvrat’s accomplishment of such historical significance.
