Dr. Avnish Rahi (born July 11, 1974) is a celebrated Indian lyricist, poet, author, and educator known for his socially conscious literature and powerful poetic voice. From penning his first poem at age 10 to crafting epic narratives and musical works, his creative journey has spanned over four decades, influencing public discourse through art and activism.[1]
Early Life & Education
Born in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, into a literary family, his father was renowned poet Amar Singh Rahi. After the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984, a 10-year-old Rahi wrote his first poem. His debut poetry collection, Bhakton Ki Pukar, was published at age 14.[2] He currently teaches at Heeralal Barah Saini Inter College, Aligarh.
Literary & Musical Career
Known as a “Jan Kavi”, Dr. Rahi’s work often critiques inequality and social injustice. His lyrics have been performed by artists such as Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Anuradha Paudwal, and Anup Jalota.[3]
