Kajal Suri is an Indian child psychologist, special educator, RCI-licensed rehabilitation professional and author. She is the founder and Director of Thomas Kids International, an educational organisation focusing on early childhood development and inclusive learning. With a career spanning more than two decades, Suri has worked extensively in areas of child psychology, emotional development, behavioural intervention and special education.
Early life and education
Kajal Suri was born on 21 December 1984 in Delhi, India. She completed her schooling in Delhi and developed an early interest in child behaviour and emotional development, which later influenced her decision to pursue psychology.
Suri completed her graduation from the University of Delhi (2002–2005). She obtained a Master of Arts in Psychology from Sabarmati University (formerly Calorx Teachers University), Ahmedabad, in 2014–2016. She later completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology from the Rehabilitation Council of India (2019–2021).
In 2023, she was awarded an honorary doctoral degree in Psychology by Maryland State University, USA, based on her thesis related to assessment tools and home-based remedial plans for learners with special educational needs.
Career
Suri founded Thomas Kids International in 2008 after completing her graduation. The institution began as a preschool initiative and later expanded into a multisensory and inclusive learning network inspired by developmental, behavioural and cognitive theories.
Since 2009, Suri has served as President of the St. Thomas Academy of Research and Development, an organisation providing training programmes in teacher education, special education and computer literacy.
Since 2016, Suri has been associated with the TKI Multidisciplinary Clinic as a child psychologist. Her work includes delivering assessments and therapeutic interventions such as:
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- Anger and anxiety management
- Behavioural therapy
- Autism and ADHD support interventions
- Speech therapy assistance
- Applied behaviour analysis (ABA)
South Delhi Public School
In 2024, Suri joined South Delhi Public School as a counsellor and special educator, where she supports students with learning disabilities including dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia.
Suri has more than 15 years of experience in special education and over 20 years of work in the broader field of child development and inclusive learning.
