Mini Mathur is an Indian television host , actress, model, producer, and entrepreneur. She’s most well known for presenting the singing reality show Indian Idol in multiple seasons, and over time she kinda became one of India’s most recognizable television presenters. Mathur first got attention as a video jockey , (VJ) on MTV India , and after that she broadened her pathway into acting, production, and also digital entertainment.[1][2]

She has appeared in television series like Mind the Malhotras and Call Me Bae and she has hosted so many entertainment, quiz, and reality programs throughout her journey. In 2026, she showed up as a contestant in Amazon Prime Video’s reality competition show The Alliance.

Early Life & Education

Mini Mathur was born on 21 August 1972, in New Delhi, India. She finished her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Lady Shri Ram College , University of Delhi. Later on she earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing from the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad.[3]

After she wrapped up her studies, she started her professional work in advertising with J. Walter Thompson (JWT). A modelling assignment, basically nudged her toward television and that was the turning point for her, into hosting and general entertainment.

Career

Mini Mathur started her television career by hosting the game show Tol Mol Ke Bol then moving on to MTV India as a video jockey (VJ). When she was there, her time on-air basically became a mix of music, youth, and entertainment programmes, one of them being Bombay Blush , which was also aired on BBC Two in the United Kingdom.

After that, she gathered nationwide attention through Indian Idol , where she became a host for one of the longest runs in the franchise. In the years that followed , she kept showing up with multiple successful shows like Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao , Sports Ka Superstar, Discovery School Super League, Wife Bina Life, Dilli Dil Se , plus a bunch of award ceremonies and live events.

Mini Mathur also acted in television serials, including Tandav, Vakaalat, and Khwahish. She even got strong critical feedback for her role as Shefali Malhotra in Amazon Prime Video’s comedy-drama Mind the Malhotras. Later on, she appeared in the streaming series Call Me Bae, in 2024.

Then in 2026, she entered Amazon Prime Video’s reality competition show The Alliance as a contestant, taking part with various celebrities in both strategic tasks and social challenges.[4][5]
