Narayanan R Menon (Narayanan Radhakrishanan) is an Indian music composer, singer, and entrepreneur based in the United Arab Emirates. His devotional and experimental works, such as the well-known album Kaliyugavarada (2008), its follow-up Kaliyugavarada 2 (2020), and the ground-breaking AI-based project Krishna Krishna (2024), are his most well-known works. In addition to performing music in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Bhojpuri, and English, he serves as the Managing Director of the Aromen Group of Companies in the United Arab Emirates. With his COVID Vaccine Anthem, Menon became well-known for raising awareness of public health issues during the COVID-19 pandemic. He still produces multilingual albums and works with renowned vocalists.

Early Life & Education

Narayanan Radhakrishnan, also known as Narayanan R Menon, hails from Kerala, India. He studied under renowned gurus such as Sijil (Piano/Drums), Abdul Aziz (Piano), and Mavelikara Manmadhan (Mridangam) after developing an early love for music. He pursued academics in addition to his artistic endeavors, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and then a Doctorate in Management Studies.

Career

In 2008, Narayanan's journey into music began with the devotional album 'Kaliyugavarada,' which heartfully embraced millions of online and mobile subscribers. The success of the album was further sealed with more than 5000 copies sold in a physical form. Moreover, the project gained greater visibility because of its collaboration with Tech Zone, enabling its popularity to soar as caller, hello, and greet tunes.

Dr. Chinni Jayanth, the actor, played a pivotal role in ushering Narayanan into Tamil cinema in 2011 through the film 'Mannippaya.' The film was graced with six tracks sung by an ensemble of celebrated artists like Unni Menon, Sadhana Sargam, Karthick, Shweta Mohan, Najim Arshad, and Kalpana.

In 2012, he had signed on for the Malayalam movies 'Once Upon a Time' and 'Rich N Famous,' but unfortunately, both projects were shelved because of financial issues. At some point, he also felt that the stage name “Dhrona” did not provide him with good fortune, so he switched back to his real name.

His reputed works are marked by the Hindi/Bhojpuri folk film Chatayi Kahan Bichayun (2018), which is directed by Param Sivan and is especially known among the Fiji people group.

As for his other special works, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Narayanan had a notable contribution in social work by composing The COVID Vaccine Anthem, which was later performed by Jassie Gift. The mentioned anthem was a part of the campaign to encourage the masses to get vaccinated.

Since then, he has kept releasing songs in multiple languages, including Ramodaya (a devotional song in Hindi), Ankhon Mein Paaya Tera Pyaar (a Hindi song that has received over 1.2 million views on YouTube), En Onathumbi (a Malayalam song about Onam), and Poo Mandharam (a Malayalam song that has received over 1.2 million views on YouTube).

His album Krishna Krishna, which was produced in 2024 using AI platforms for lyrics, music, and mixing, marked his foray into the realm of AI-powered music.

Notable Works

Narayanan R Menon has delivered several memorable works throughout his musical journey. His first devotional album, which was Kaliyugavara (2008), was quite successful especially because of its popularity in digital platforms and caller tunes. Successively, he released Kaliyugavara 2 (2020), which also garnered favorable reviews. In 2018, he made his first film with the Hindi/Bhojpuri folk film Chatayi Kahan Bichayun (2018, Hindi/Bhojpuri), which received special appreciation in Fiji. He released a Jassie Gift-voiced anthem, the COVID Vaccine Anthem (2021), during the COVID-19 pandemic to help raise awareness and encourage vaccinations. His album in Malayalam, titled Poo Mandharam (Malayalam Album, 1.2M+ YouTube views), helped define his position in the industry as it crossed 1.2 million views on YouTube. In the most recent of his endeavours, he dabbled in AI technology to compose Krishna Krishna (AI-based album, 2024), an album that was a first of its kind in his career as it was composed, written, and even mixed using Artificial Intelligence—all of which marked a unique milestone in his career.

In addition to his completed works, Narayanan R Menon has several exciting projects lined up. His upcoming releases include the Tamil films Pillai Tamil (2025, Tamil) and Mannippaaya En Aasai (2025, Tamil). He is also working on the Malayalam project Ente Mathram (2026, Malayalam). Another notable venture is his collaboration with the legendary singer G. Venugopal, scheduled for release in 2024, which brings together the singer and his fans from the UAE for a unique musical experience.
