This page explains the Copyright Policy of Knowlepedia. All contributors and readers must follow these rules when creating, editing, or reusing content.

1. Ownership of Contributions

  • By contributing to Knowlepedia, you agree to release your edits and text under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) 4.0 License.
  • This means anyone may reuse, share, or remix Knowlepedia content, provided they:
    • Give proper attribution (credit to Knowlepedia and original authors)
    • Share any derivative works under the same license

2. Non-text Media (Images, Videos, Files)

  • Only upload content that you have the rights to share.
  • Acceptable media includes:
    • Works you created yourself
    • Works released under a free license (e.g., CC-BY, CC-BY-SA, public domain)
    • Works with explicit permission from the copyright holder
  • Media uploaded without proof of free use or permission may be removed.

3. Fair Use

  • Limited use of copyrighted material may be allowed under the principle of "fair use" (e.g., low-resolution film posters, book covers for identification, or commentary).
  • Any fair use upload must clearly state:
    • Source of the material
    • Purpose of use
    • Justification of fair use (why it is legally acceptable)

4. Prohibited Content

  • Do not upload pirated, plagiarized, or stolen content.
  • Do not copy large portions of copyrighted books, articles, or websites.
  • Any violation may lead to removal of content and possible user sanctions.

5. Attribution

  • Proper attribution is required for all sources, images, and references.
  • Citations should be added using Project:Citing sources guidelines.

6. Reuse of Knowlepedia Content

  • You are free to reuse Knowlepedia content as long as you:
    • Provide attribution
    • Follow the CC BY-SA 4.0 license
    • Clearly mark any modifications you make

7. Disclaimer

  • Knowlepedia editors are responsible for ensuring that their contributions respect copyright law.
  • Knowlepedia itself does not take liability for individual user violations but will respond to complaints or takedown requests under applicable laws.

8. Reporting Copyright Issues

If you believe your copyrighted work has been used on Knowlepedia without authorization:

  • Send a detailed complaint with evidence to info@knowlepedia.org
  • The matter will be reviewed, and infringing material may be removed in compliance with Indian law (IT Act, 2000) and international copyright norms.
