Early Life & Education
Diljit Dosanjh was born on 6 January 1984 at Dosanjh Kalan village in the state of Punjab, India. Diljit belongs to a Sikh family. Diljit had a strong passion for music from a younger age. Diljit got training for music while he used to perform kirtan at various gurudwaras.[1][2]
Career
Diljit started his music career in the Punjabi music industry in the early 2000s and received immense success with albums like Smile and The Next Level. He marked the beginning of his acting career in the Punjabi movie industry and was one of the most successful performers in the industry with blockbuster films like Jatt & Juliet and Punjab 1984.
His breakthrough into the Bollywood industry was seen in the movie Udta Punjab (2016), which won him many awards as well as praise from critics. After that, the actor had many successful releases like Soorma, Good Newwz, and Crew in the Hindi cinema industry. Diljit also has a remarkable reputation for his dynamic stage performances and global musical tours.
In 2026, Diljit is acting in a new Hindi war movie titled Border 2, to be directed by Anurag Singh. The movie features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, and Sonam Bajwa, and is going to be a sequel to the cult classic Border, released in 1997.
