Amitava Guha Thakurta is an Indian hospitality executive, business leader, author, and management professional, with more than 27 years of experience spread across hospitality , food and beverage, entertainment, retail, and multiplex industries. Currently, he serves as the Zonal Head and Regional Director (Eastern India) at PVR INOX Limited, and he oversees business operations in multiple states. Over the course of his career, he has held senior leadership roles with major hospitality brands, including ITC Hotels, Radisson Hotels, Hotel Minerva Grand, Hotel Hindusthan International, Le Royal Meridien, and The Park Hotels .
He’s recognized for his business operations, pre-opening projects, people management, and profitability. In practice, Thakurta has guided a number of hotel and entertainment ventures across India. He also contributes actively to the hospitality sector through professional associations, academic mentoring, and various leadership development initiatives .
Early Life & Education
Amitava Guha Thakurta was born on 8 May 1975. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calcutta and a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management (MBA-HR) from the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM). He also holds a Diploma in Hotel Management , Food Science and Catering Technology from NIPS School of Hotel Management, Kolkata.
Career
Amitava Guha Thakurta started his hospitality career in 1996, with industrial training at Taj Bengal, Kolkata before moving to The Park Kolkata. After that, across the ensuing years, he played leadership roles at Hotel Hindusthan International , Le Royal Meridien Chennai, Hotel Minerva Grand, ITC Hotels (Fortune Park Hotels Ltd.) and the Radisson Hotel Group, handling hotel operations , business development, pre-opening work and revenue management through multiple Indian cities.
In 2018 he joined PVR INOX Limited, and today he serves as Zonal Head and Regional Director for Eastern India. Basically in that position, he supervises a big regional portfolio that includes multiplex properties, manages thousands of employees, and keeps responsibility for operational excellence, growth in business, profitability, stakeholder relations, and a longer term plan for expansion.
Apart from corporate responsibilities, Amitava Guha Thakurta regularly gives guest lectures at management institutions, guides hospitality professionals, and takes part in industry conferences plus leadership forums. He is also the author of The All Weather Manager, which is basically a book on management and leadership.

He also received the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Seva Ratna Samman , for his professional contributions along with social involvement.
In his roles, he serves as the Vice President (West Bengal) of the Association of Hospitality Professionals Welfare of India (AHPWI), he is a Board Member of the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Eastern India (HRAEI), and he acts as the Founding Member and President of the NIPS Alumni Association – i League.
