Sunrisers Hyderabad or SRH are a professional Twenty20 Teams from the city of Hyderabad in the state of Telangana. They are a participant in the Indian Premier League or IPL. Their owner is Kalanithi Maran of the Sun Group. The SRH was established in the year 2013 after the termination of Deccan Chargers. Their coach is Daniel Vettori and their leader or captain is Pat Cummins. Their playing ground is the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad with a capacity of 39,200 people.

SRH launched their IPL career in 2013 and qualified for the playoffs within their inaugural season. They won the IPL title for the first time in 2016, beating Royal Challengers Bangalore within the finals. The team qualified for the playoffs for five consecutive seasons, from 2016 to 2020. SRH also clinched the IPL finals twice, in 2018 and 2024, as runners-up.

Known earlier for being one of the strongest bowling line-ups, SRH has now emerged as one of the strongest batting line-ups and hold the record of having the highest tally in IPL (287 runs). Bhuvneshwar Kumar is their leading wicket-taker.

History

In 2012, Sunrisers Hyderabad took over for Deccan Chargers, and in 2013, they made their IPL debut. After Deccan Chronicle ran into financial difficulties, Sun TV Network acquired the franchise. Sun TV Network won the IPL bid with a five-year contract worth ₹85.05 crore annually.

The team anthem and jersey were introduced in March 2013, but the team logo was unveiled in December 2012. Prominent cricket players like Tom Moody, Muttiah Muralitharan, and V. V. S. Laxman were part of the franchise management.

Home Ground

The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad, which is owned by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and situated in Uppal, is where Sunrisers Hyderabad play their home games.

A secondary home ground has been the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. In addition to hosting important IPL games, such as the 2019 IPL final, the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium has received recognition for having some of the greatest fields and fields.

In the 2016 season, Sunrisers defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 runs in the final to win their first IPL championship. Between 2016 and 2020, the team made it to the playoffs five times in a row. They advanced to the 2018 IPL final but were defeated by the Chennai Super Kings.
